Can you tell something about his tank, tankmates and its age?

Is it an agressive fish?

Greetings

Hey people!(wasn't logged in properly before)

Well first off, Regarding my midas which is the middle one in Hertinho's post.It is a male spawned from my pair a little over 3 1/2 years ago he is about 12 1/2 inches total lenght. For the last couple of years to the present he has be living on one side of my 150gal tank which i have a home made plexi glass divider in.Other than his parents which are on the other side of the divider he has no tank mates at this time.In the past he has has had a female midas and juvenile festaes and then a female festae with him. in the 150 he was fairly mellow(for a midas)with his tank mates.I decided to for now keep him alone on his side because he kept getting his fins split by the female midas(they also Unsucessfully spawned a few times.)and then the female festae.

Now about the other pics i sent to the gallery, reading from left to right they would be: pics# 7,8,20,48,49,51,52,67,and of course 68.After some feed back i will give details on those fish too. For now i got to go Smile

Hi!

thank you for the story, about your fish.
Now, I have three small midas cichlid in my tank. They are very aggressive and bite each ozher in their mouth.

What do you think, how long will it take to grow them up!!

Is this white Midas a pure A. Citrinellus or is it an hybrid?

By the way, cich78, where do you live?

Greetings,
Hertinho

Hello cich78

nice fish, I like your midas!!

My fish (11 inch) is very shy!
He lives togther with two huge Oscars and small convicts. I plan to put the midas alone, because his fins are split up and the Oscars are tyrants. I hope my m will get the same hump like your white cichlid.

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the positive feed back.

Here is more info on some of the pics i posted. The large white male belonged to a good friend of mine the orange female in the pic was mine which i gave to him. the two of them had a few spawns.(my friend has since traded them in after having them about 5 1/2 years, they were both approximatly 6 1/2years old)I presently have one pair from those two.(pics#51,52)Pic # 7 is also one of their male offspring.(also been traded in)Can't say for sure whether the big male was pure midas or not ,he was bought at a lfs from a tank labled red devils. Many in the tank were labiatum but that fish and a few others were not.

Hertinho, it depends on what size/age your fish are now as to when they will hit near full size.I've seen some grow very fast and others not so fast. i think most of my males were around 8-10 inches total length after about 1 years old.
I am located way up in Rochester Ny in the good old U.S. of A.

Hello Cich78

thank you for your Information about your midas and their live situation.
5 1/2 and 6 1/2 years Smile are very nice ages.
I bought my midas in spring 2000. You can be lucky, that you gets ofspring from your great fish. My Miidas often lay eggs but when the baby cichlid start their live, the parents always eat them. Sad

Last spring I bought 4 young white and yellow Midas Cichlids and I hope this fish will get offspring. They live in my 150 g grow up tank and mate very heavy. Smile

Hi Black Devil Cool

separate your Midas from this tyrants. I stocked one tank with one male Midas, Oscars and Trimacs. The Oscars do not have any chance against the Midas, they are banished. Now the Midas live alone, without any oscar
