I've had a Midas for a year now, I think it was about a year, maybe 6 months old when I got it. So, the hump designates that it's male? He started getting super aggressive (more than usual) in the last 2 weeks, didn't eat as much and started "nesting" in the rocks and keeping all the other fish at bay. I'm guessing this is all normal when they start to mature and grow their hump. I've never had one before.

Other question...anyone know if it creates a more aggressive environment to let him eat feeder fish? The other fish in the tank have either been eaten, or they've survived. It's been 3 months since he ate all the red-tail sharks. Didn't know though if I should keep giving it live food lilke that or not.

i think that your midas is just starting to get mature and this is why he behaves so like you wrote .if i were you i wouldn't stop feeding him fishes because he will grow faster and healthier

ok im not trying to sound smart Very Happy but as it seems to me....when "I" feed my fish live feeders...they tend to get more aggressive because they chase it down like how they would chase down a fish just to woop on....

okay, but for the last few days or so, he's not eating hardly anything at all.

I live 90 miles from the pet store. Do you guys recommend meal worms at all? (stuff I can get at the bait shop for ice fishing)

I feel like he needs something and whatever he's been eating (pellets and flakes) just aren't doing it for him during his wierd evolution phase. I tell ya, it's been really cool to watch this thing grow for the last couple weeks.

Aww see now that ***...other people can feed their midas worms, I tried so many times and he wont touch them at all. The only live food he will eat is feeder gold fish and house flies, he loves house flies lol
