<  Amphilophus (like Midas and Trimac) Talk  ~  Is it Trimac

Hi guys im new here.This is my first post.
Look at the pics of these three fishes n tell me if they are pure trimacs or low grade flowerhorns.What is the difference?

Hi Nirmaldev,

Welcome to the forum! In my opinion, there is no way to know whether your fish are hybrid or not. If you want a pure one, you need to buy from a reputable cichlid breeder.

ok .do you think that the redness should be more intense and concentrated in pure trimacs.Thats how they look in most of the pics ive seen.

The red on his body, leads me to beleive he is a flowerhorn. Trimacs don't have that kinda color.

oh ok.Also i cant get them to breed.Ive tried to put the female with both the males.It seems that shes is interested but both the guys are not and they chases her away whenever she comes close.Why is this?

No, guy there keeps only pure cichlid. But flowerhorn look much alike Trimac.

personally the double flower lines make me think flower horn as trimack will only have one line of flowers horizontally NOT vertically.

as for the lack of breeding, are you shure you have both sexes? also if they are too young they will not breed, and only fight or chase.
