It depends on what size tank they are in. If the tank is 200 gallons or more then you have more options. I would say Jack Dempsey, Oscar, Convict. I would say any cichlid that would be not dominate and would be satified not being the dominat cichlid.

I have a 13 inch midas, 9 inch female festae and a bunch of clown loaches and synodontis catfish in a 4x2x2 foot 120 gallon. Everyone gets along pretty fine.

i had a clarias in past with an weak oscar and the clarias dominated the oscar but when i sold oscar and introduce a midas to claraiias my midas killed the catfish so i think that clarias are to weak to keep them with midas(large midas)

There are no absolute answer to this question. Not all midas or red devil are the same temperment. I've seen some that are very aggressive. Some are very mellow. They like and dislike just like human. My midas can't stand any catfish. Yet, he doesn't give a heck 1" fish in his tank (even if the fish is cichlid). My trimac hates any cichlid but he cares nothing about bottom dwellers.

So...at the end, an owner has to mix fish on his/her own risk. As long as he/she understands his/her fish Smile

4 and 5.5 inches. He could easily swallow the 4 inch one as it is probably only 1/10th the weight of the 5.5 inch one.
