I feed and inbreed 3 Red Devil generations in my aquarium. Most of them end up with normal lips and long pointed snout, some have thick lips and one has very thin lips and short snout. From that I can say my Red Devil is hybrid,

Back to Ng's question, it has long pointed snout so I can say it is not Midas (Amphilophus citrinellus), it is Red Devil (A. labiatus or hybrid)

To me the snout looks rounded enough to see midas in it, but overall it appears to be a midas/devil mix.

Can you post any more pics of the fish from different angles?

Just food for thought, because without knowing the source all any of us can do is guess Wink

Looking at the gallery it's amazing all the variation the we can see,but then again maybe it's no wonder because when you think about it a fish can be anything from pure to a 50/50 mix on down.

There aren't alot of them full blooded in the U.S. anymore...LOL....a pure Lab is always easy to identify....but, Cents can be confusing and I'd bet this is a cross......but it's a nice spec.....

this is my first time here, but i've been keeping cichlids for a long time and I was always confused with this type of cichlid.... it looks like its a cross bred of the rd/midas. the snout is long but the lips aren't that huge....so i think its a cross bred between those two guys. but what do I know.
