They're currently in a very overcrowded 150 gallon tank..no divider but I'm moving alot of stuff around this weekend.....it's a "war" in there right now and getting out of hand....I've given well over a thousand of the fry away to a friend of mine here locally and have many many more I have to do something with.....immediately!!!

Toerag, just a few questions

Where all those barred Midas's from Jeff Rapps or just that Snake Eyed Male in the bottom?

Is that Snake Eyed Barred Midas another strain of A. Citrinellus? Or is it just a nickname?

Also how long ago did you purchase that male, and any idea if Rapps has any more in stock?

You have some of the sweetest fish pics in this forum man! Im jealous. I'm now possibly considering buying a few sexed Barred Midas Cichids as well.

Tankbuster....thanks for the kind compliments my friend..no, it's just a nickname one the "snake eyed" Rapps barred...and I think he probably does have more...I got umbies and haitensis and that male from Jeff....the red barred midas came from Death Angel in Tennessee and the red faced midas came from a fella in New Jersey....most of my "big" reds have come from all over the world as I used to travel a good bit to find certain specimens that I new were good stock and a tad different...actually, this is what the red eyed barred midas looked like the day I got him....compared to now....

AND...here's a pic of one of the red faced costa rican parents....(wild caught)

Man that is pretty crazy. His eyes completely changed to red (although that was probably just due to the stress of shipping, I think that blue water that jeff ships them in is most likely some kind of sedative to ease stress), and his barred pattern really darkened up nicely.

But is it just me or does it appear than his nuchal hump shrink in that 2nd pic?

Either way I love the snake eyes man! Good luck with the breeding. Twisted Evil
