<  Amphilophus (like Midas and Trimac) Talk  ~  SOME MORE ADVISE PLEASE.

Hi all i got my midasas to breed three weeks ago and now i have a huge broad of little fry being gaurded by both parents. the fry are eating brine shrip well but i just wanted to know at what age and size do i stop feeding them on brine shrip and move on to other foods. and when do i seperate them from there parents. the other problem is that my male has lost most of his hump sinces the fry became free swimming is this normal and will it grow back.

you can try give them other food if they won't resistance eating it ,it doesn't depend of the age and size but remember don't feed them still one kind of food about the hump don't worry it will grow back soon or later

You can feed your fish with daphnia after 1 week. After 2 weeks, you can feed them with microworms. I hope you can buy daphnia and frozen microworms there because they are very popular. You should separate parents from fry sometimes between 2 to 3 weeks. The fry also eat mucus from parents' flanks and fins and if we don't separate them, fry will cause parents' fin rot and open sores on the flanks.
