Hi Red,

The reason a 55 gallon tank is reccomended as the minimal tank size for one midas or RD, is mainly two reasons, they are aggressive and territorial and for bio load issues (waste, decomposing food) In a 75 gallon tank I think an experienced fish keeper could put it off with the help of great filtration.
Along with 2 good water changes a week.

Try it out, get that test kit...test your nitrates as soon as they near 20ppm, water change time. you dont want your fish to get toxified by toxic nitrates. Also watch the aggression level.
If agrression is minimal, and your doing proper water changes you should be able to do it.
